Alabama Rx Card Increases Card Distribution Sites Across State

(Montgomery, AL) – The residents of Alabama will soon find that getting help to lower their prescription drug costs can be found right around the corner. Program officials announced that Alabama Primary Health Care Association (APHCA) has officially agreed to expand card distribution sites for Alabama's free discount drug card program. APHCA is the voice for Alabama's community health centers and will be distributing free drug cards at all of those 120 APHCA health centers located across Alabama.

Alabama Rx Card, which is open to all Alabama residents, is a prescription assistance program that provides savings of up to 75% on prescription drugs at most retail pharmacy locations. The program was launched in November 2007 and has already saved Alabama residents over $3.2 million on their prescription medications.

Alabama Rx Card was launched to help uninsured and underinsured residents of Alabama afford their prescription medications. However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health plans. Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program for non-covered drugs.

Alabamians can get a free prescription drug card by visiting one of the many card distribution sites around the state; or download a free prescription drug card by visiting www.AlabamaRxCard.com. Anyone not able to access the website, or otherwise obtain a member card, can visit any CVS/pharmacy location in Alabama. Simply ask the pharmacy to process your prescription through the Alabama Rx Card.
